January 15, 2021: Joint Letter to Sen. Schumer on S. 1 “For the People Act”

On January 15, the Woman’s National Democratic Club co-signed a letter to Senator Check Schumer urging him to “act to safeguard our democracy for the long term and finally create the fair, just system Americans want and deserve.” As part of the Declaration for American Democracy (DFAD) coalition of over 80 partners, the WNDC put pressure on Senate Democrats to join the House Democrats in prioritizing the For the People Act.
Update: Our coalition’s efforts paid off! On January 19th, Sen. Chuck Schumer announced that the Upper Chamber will consider the For the People Act S. 1, the very first Senate bill of the session. Read more here.
