June 22, 2018: Gun Reform is the Top Issue Among LGBTQ Voters in 2018

As the second anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub massacre was remembered this week, it seems this horrific shooting is driving voting expectations on the issue of gun reform among LGBTQ voters. About 50% of those polled in a survey by Whitman Insight Strategies and Buzzfeed News indicated that the shooting influenced their views on needed gun legislation.  In addition, more than any other issue, gun reform was named as their top priority, with 71% saying that a candidate’s position on guns would impact their vote. The most popular-backed measures are: universal background checks, banning sales to those convicted of hate crimes, and a ban on high-capacity magazines. Read more here.
