Global Women
Mission: To provide a forum for study, action and networking on issues stemming from the Platform for Action adopted at the 1995 U.N. World Women’s Conference in Beijing; networking with other organizations on these and other issues.
Public Policy Positions
The Global Women’s Task Force supports…
- Implementation of the U.N. Beijing Platform for Action, including health, economic welfare and other areas toward women’s empowerment.
- Senate hearings and action to secure Senate ratification of the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), now called “The Treaty for the Rights of Women.”
- Cooperating and strengthening links with like-minded non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and similar U.S. based international organizations
- Coalitions to promote full representation and restoration of women’s constitutional rights in nations recovering from military actions
- Fostering humanitarian aid with specific attention to health-related issues
- U.S. Department of Justice and NGO actions regarding Violence Against Women legislation
- Government policies against trafficking of women and girls.
- Promoting better understanding of other cultures and religions as they impact women
- Providing a presence at events and conferences on issues affecting women globally and in the U.S.

- Improvement of the economic situation of women in the developing world through microlending
