Judicial/Constitutional
Mission: To advocate integrity and honor on the Federal benches, to monitor the selection of federal judges, to lobby members of Congress to confirm only qualified candidates, and to educate WNDC members about candidates and their policy records, focusing on women and families.
Public Policy Positions
The Judicial Issues Task Force supports…
- Tracking and evaluating appointments of candidates to vacant judgeships
- Monitoring the process by which judicial nominees proceed through the Senate Judiciary Committee to the Senate floor, including a possible filibuster
- Following and attempting to correct any apparent misinformation about nominees
- Ensuring that candidates’ positions uphold Constitutional rights
- Disclosing judicial candidates’ public positions and disseminating them to WNDC members and the general public
- Confirming only those candidates who have displayed compliance with relevant laws
- Monitoring and responding to social justice issues as needed
