The Public Policy Committee (PPC) is the political action arm of the Woman’s National Democratic Club. It consists of task forces groups that meet regularly, and discuss a broad range of national and international issues. As a collective voice, these task forces ensure that WNDC takes actions that advance these positions within the Democratic Party, and other likeminded organizations. The PPC works to:

DC/Metro
Develops and carry out WNDC policy on issues affecting citizens of the District of Columbia and the metropolitan region. Learn more
Economic and Budget Policies
Promotes fiscal policies that reflect our democratic ideals of justice and equality of opportunity, and that increase the common good and national unity, now and in the long term. To promote policies to eliminate our severe budget deficits, and related balance of payments, social services and infrastructure deficits. Learn more
Education/Children's Issues
Advocates for quality public education essential to America’s competitive, democratic society and to educate WNDC members on reforms needed to restructure the nation’s public schools to provide equality of opportunity. To study conditions of American children living in poverty and the absence of health insurance protection for many of those children, and to act on findings as needed. Learn more
Election Reform
Promotes nationwide reform in elections for federal offices. The goal is to restore the faith of our citizens in the election process, by ensuring that the votes of all registered voters are counted fairly and under uniform standards and that they accurately reflect the will of the people. Environment and Natural Resources
Informs members about the connections between population, environment, and natural resources; to alert them about related legislation; and to facilitate action in support of environmental positions. Learn more
Foreign Policy
Actively supports U.S. foreign policies characterized by consultations and cooperation with friendly nations and international organizations, a stance that is more important than ever since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Learn more
Global Women
Provides a forum for study, action and networking on issues stemming from the Platform for Action adopted at the 1995 U.N. World Women’s Conference in Beijing; networking with other organizations on these and other issues. Learn more
Health
Educates members and provide a forum to discuss important health issues facing the country that can lend themselves to political and legislative action. To advocate for universal health coverage, as well as to examine major health care legislative initiatives that affect large groups of Americans. Learn more
Judicial/Constitutional
Advocates integrity and honor on the Federal benches, to monitor the selection of federal judges, to lobby members of Congress to confirm only qualified candidates, and to educate WNDC members about candidates and their policy records, focusing on women and families. Learn more
Religion and Politics
Supports the First Amendment, Article 1, of the U.S. Constitution, and to monitor the use of federal dollars in supporting faith based charities and personal ideologies. Learn more
Social Security
Educates members and provide a forum to discuss and act on proposed changes in Social Security. Learn more
Telecommunications
Promotes and monitor the Internet as an essential communications medium for WNDC and its members, to encourage member use of computers, e-mail, and the Internet, and to advocate for telecommunications issues. Learn more
