David Maraniss has written a generational biography of President Obama, a story of the world that created him and then how he made himself. Drawing on four years of research around the world, 350 interviews (including with President Obama, his sister, and many of his close relatives), and thousands of documents, letters, and journals, Maraniss vividly evokes the times, places and forces that shaped Obama’s personality. Beginning decades before the president was born, it ends just before he entered Harvard Law School. Maraniss maintains that an understanding of the genealogy and geography of Obama’s family, and of his early life, is essential in decoding what he later made of himself.
The book will be available for purchase and signing.
