"OUT OF THE VAULT" EARLY PRINTS AND DRAWINGS.
Offering audiences prize winning artworks not exhibited for almost 70 years, 'OUT OF THE VAULT' is a rare opportunity to revisit art from the WPA and New Deal. The late artist Benjamin Abramowitz burst onto the Washington, DC art scene from NYC in 1941; and won firsts in competition after competition, garnering numerous solo museum exhibitions including at Howard University, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the legendary Barnet-Aden Gallery. His work is in many museum and personal collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Upstairs Exhibition for Patsy Fleming
"New Work: Paintings and Collages by Patsy Fleming"
Patsy Fleming loves painting. Even the look and feel of the paint as she loads her brush exhilarates her. She incorporates collage into many of her paintings to add another dimension, or another voice that can express meaning. Fleming also creates collages that are independent of painting. A frequent partner in her work is line. She applies India ink to the painting or collage with wooden sticks. Fleming uses words as a design element; sometimes without meaning, and at other times the words are part of the narrative.
